The instructor will discuss designing around a pearl and cover the construction of different vessel shapes. Lora Hart: Accentuate the Negative - CLASS IS CANCELLED
Learn how to use negative space in your jewelry designs. Students will learn to make and use templates as well as 3 different ways to pierce your metal clay work. Riveting and its appropriate use on pieces with negative space designs will be discussed and demonstrated.
Materials List: * At least 18g of silver metal clay * A hard work surface, glass or plexi * Metal clay tools, water container, flexible work surface, etc. * A sharp pin tool – I use a sewing needle * Textures if desired * A variety of sand paper and sanding tools; sanding dust container * Needle files; toothpicks * Rubber block to elevate work - I like the one with a hole in it (Optional) * An image for inspiration. The image will not be destroyed. If it is a large image, you might want to make a copy 118% larger than the final jewelry size. * Glue stick; pencil * Exacto knife and/or detail scissors & cutting surface.

Lora Hart: Open & Shut Case: A Hinge Primer - CLASS IS CANCELLED
Learn to make a variety of metal clay hinges and hinge pins for boxes, lockets and articulated pendants in this 2-day workshop. On the first day, students will be given the option of making a multi-piece hinge sampler or a single articulated pendant which can be enhanced in a variety of ways. Coil, syringe, tab and commercially manufactured tube hinges will be made and demonstrated as well as staple, riveted and pearl end hinge pins. Youʼll even learn a special way to create a two-sided ball “rivet” with a butane torch. On the second day, students will think outside the proverbial box as they alter a bead design of their choice (and prior knowledge) to create a hinged container.
Materials List: • Boxes can be made from any shape bead. Be sure to bring a support to form your bead on. Options are dowels, large straws or pill bottles for tube beads, Easter eggs or light bulbs for lentil beads, mayo jar, water bottle or other straight edged cylinder for pillow beads. A lentil bead box will be demonstrated. • At least two packages of 18g PMC+ or 16g PMC Three (or equivalent, Art Clay welcome) - Student's choice. • PMC3 slip (can be made from lump in class) • PMC3 Syringe and/or PMC Sheet - Optional for decoration

Catherine Davies Paetz: PMC Pro Carved Seamless Rings - CLASS IS FULL!
Try your hand at carving, shaping and firing this marvelous new material. PMC Pro is super strong and carves like a dream! Focus will be on creating unique carved rings but you can create and carve earrings or pendants, too. Take home your firing container to use again! Firing will be done at the end of class and pieces will be available to be picked up later in the day. There may be time to do a firing halfway through class, depending on everyoneʼs progress.
Materials List: 25g PMC Pro General metal clay tools including a roller, cards or slats and work surface. All must be wiped clean of other metal clays. Teflon sheets - 4X6 V-tip carving tools such as Dockyard or Speedball.

Kristina Malcolm: Flex Shaft Fundamentals
If youʼve never used a flex shaft but have wanted to learn how, or if youʼve used one occasionally but know thereʼs more you can do with it, this class is for you! Learn what all those attachments are for and how to use them, as well as the care and maintenance of your bench tool. Bring your flex shaft and attachments so you can learn and practice on your own machine! There will be a few in class to use for those that do not own a flex shaft.

Learn the best ways to photograph your beautiful jewelry with your own camera! Students should bring their cameras and several pieces of their best work to shoot. You will learn what it takes to create beautiful images of your jewelry just using things you have around your home. Learn to manipulate your camera for the best quality photographs. Your photos will then be professionally critiqued to maximize your learning experience! Please bring your own camera and 2-3 pieces of your jewelry to photograph.
